Lobster InformationLobsters are invertebrates that live on the ocean floor. They are found all over the world. Lobsters have a hard protective exoskeleton, a segmented body and jointed legs. They have thorax, tail, flipper, crusher claw, pincher claw, legs and antennae. Lobsters also have compound eyes; but their eyesight is not very good. These creatures breathe through gills located beneath the shell. Lobsters come in a variety of colors: blue-green, red, blue, yellow, red-orange and white. These invertebrates grow by molting, or shedding their shells; they often eat their old shell. Lobsters are an important seafood all over the world. It takes 4-7 years for a lobster to grow to "legal" size. Lobsters have clear blood which turns opaque white when cooked. There are still many debates regarding lobsters feel or do not feel pain when being boiled alive into hot water.
